Let's Party

I'm sure most bloggers through out every day see, hear or think about something they want to blog about...and keep forgetting about it. Umm...well I do. It's been the inauguration parties for me. Mitch Albom has an article this morning in the Free Press titled: It's No Time To Throw a Party Like This, that prompted what I've been wanting to say and his article was enough to get me going. So Mitch:

Why not?

Probably even a decade ago I'd of been bitching too, but my views have changed alot. When is the right time? When there is no more war? When there is no more suffering? When some natural disaster hasn't claimed many lives in the past year? When children aren't starving? When there isn't bitching losers over a presidential election? When government quits spending too much? When people haven't lost jobs?

Shall we wait until then? Tick. Tock. Speaking for myself, my hair has turned gray, I've got fine wrinkles around my eyes and I'm now wearing bifocals. Tick. Tock. How much longer should we all wait to have some celebration and some joy? Tick. tock.

Besides at least 40 million dollars is being taken out of a few rich man's pockets and being dumped back into our nation. It's not being outsourced to some country who sits around and bitches, moans and groans about how bad the American's are.

So down with the naysayers, it's time to party.

Whining Liberals

I'm cruising through internet sites this morning and the whining and self pity of the liberals is...well...sort of sickening.

I particulary love this:

Now that George W. Bush has been officially elected, single, sexy, American liberals - already a threatened species - will be desperate to escape.

Escape? Please walk freely away. Run on home to Mommy. Being a loser is bad enough, but to be a name calling, whining, crying loser is just so....ewww.

Isn't it just a bitch to be a minority after thinking for so long you are a majority? Dang that must hurt. So just cry it all out, go ahead, get it out of your system.

Detroit Shenanigans

Looks like Dean Esmay got the early scoop on crap that took place in Detroit last night. You had to look long and hard to find the Free Press story: Tension in Michigan.

Color me shocked.

Politics

I try very very hard to stay away from politics. Living the majority of my life in Iowa where we are constantly bombarded with the inane and assinine comments of presidential wannabes. It's no secret that these fools will perform any party trick or ass kiss whoever they think will help them on the yellow brick road to the White House.

It seems I'm in "one of my moods" this week where I have to question the systems and values that have been set not only around me but in this country. American's know that honesty, integrity and respect can not be found on this yellow brick road to the White House. We accept that. Why?

So what set me off this morning? This article.

Presidential hopeful Howard Dean on Thursday defended his claim that the United States is no safer with Saddam Hussein in custody, contending that the ''capture of one bad man'' doesn't allow President Bush or Democrats to declare victory in the war on terrorism.

Hello? Did I miss the victory parade? Are we bringing the boys home in triumph? Is the game over? Hell no.

So here we have a stupid ass who is taking up space and blowing out hot air about something that hasn't happened. So what's the point of this article? What was the point of this assinine comment? Why are American's rushing to back this buffoon? Granted he's no more of a buffoon then all the others. Why do we settle for having to have a buffoon? Why doesn't someone ask this guy...Excuse me, but what the fuck are you talking about?

Sometimes it's just a little nauseating watching the news media and American's rush to back their favorite clown.

Worth Celebrating

Rosemary Esmay is saying everything I wish to say about the ban on partial birth abortions and this:

Between 60-70% of Americans believe that this procedure should be illegal, except when the life of the mother is at risk. It has been a good day for us humans.

Damn right.

Get a New Line

I wish I had a buck for every time a presidential candidate went through Iowa and used this line of bullshit.

bullshit.jpg

Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards told a Council Bluffs audience Monday he values hard-working American families. Does President Bush? "He values money and wealth," Edwards said. "He wants to make sure those who have money and wealth keep it and that they're in a protected club. I want to see more opportunities for more people."

These asswipes really need a new line.

Read the rest of the crap.

Well if you want. I stopped after that line of BS.

All Righty Then..

My Mother gave me her feelings last night on the whole California election:

"You know who is going to win, and he's just another Ace Ventura."

Unfortunately she was way off, but the scarey thing is, really not that far off. I knew who and what she was talking about. Once again Mom was right.

Maybe we can get on with the show now.

Popcorn anyone?

I AM Pro-Life

Have you seen this picture of Samuel?

Have you read this article about Samuel?

Is their really anything intelligible to debate for abortion?

Senator Brownback had this to say:

"There is little debate about whether the child in utero is alive; the debate is over whether or not the child is a life worthy of protection. That is a debate we will continue to have and will have another day."

There are viable options.

Check it out.

Proposition 54

I've posted before my thoughts on Proposition 54 that is on Californias ticket to end color blindness. Negrophile has posted part of the last governatorial debate where the candidates give their view.

Camejo claims that Latino pays higher tax rates, and if Propositon 54 went into effect, we would never know that, so the government should keep tracking this. Why Camejo? So the government knows who to tax more? Please.

Huffington wants Proposition 54 not to pass so if any potential presidential candidates gets into Yale on Daddy's name, we know. Excuse me...that is nepotism. The same thing it would be if let's say the same happened for Colin Powell and a son. Would it be racism then? I think not.

The Terminator...I have no fucking clue what he said. Could someone interpret that ramble for me?

Bustamante was just about as bad...I get the feeling he wants the government to enforce tolerance and embracing. Oh yeah, that will work. Been working for decades right? Can I sign up for the tolerance and embracing committee please? Maybe we can check it on a government form...donate a $1.

McClintock sounds like he is the only one for the Proposition, and was the only one to actually give his own thoughts on the matter. Not hype, not back patting. No brainwashed pat answer. I have no clue who this man is...but he definitely comes out more sane then the others. But it didn't take much.

I wonder if America would be better off if we got rid of politicians.

Racial Privacy

Negrophile has a post on the Racial Privacy Initiative on the ballot in California that would prevent state and local governments from collecting racial and ethnic data. I hadn't heard of this proposal before but apparently many Californians hadn't either.

In July 50% of those polled said they would vote yes on the initiative, recent polls show 40% support and 40% of would oppose it, of course leaving 20% sitting on the fence.

Proposition 54 and what it means:

The state would still have to track race when mandated by the federal government. But racial categories would be voided in instances ranging from applicants to state universities to some public health surveys that analyze disease rates in different populations. Racial data would no longer be on birth and death certificates.

Many of the opposers feel this will be a back step for racial equality after all if we can't track it and identify where it's occurring how can we fight it.

I've always felt that racial discrimination will never come to a halt as long as our government continues to delineate. I remember as a teenager filling out different forms that would ask what race I was and being outraged. I would never check the caucasian category. Anything but, I still do that. Besides it's no ones damn business, I'm an American, that's all even the government needs to know. Now if a child can see this why can't adults?

Our country will never be color blind until our government takes the lead.

Radio ads will begin this week featuring initiative sponsor Ward Connerly, the University of California regent who also spearheaded the 1996 initiative that banned affirmative action in the state. Public awareness of the initiative should start climbing real soon.

I for one will be watching.

9-11-01

I've already ran across a couple of sites this morning with great links about September 11, 2001

Jay Solo's Verbosity

Dean's World

There are many, many more out there I'm sure.

I remember starting out that morning just like this one. A beautiful September morning listening to a CD on the way to work, not the radio, but knowing as I drove to work something was wrong because of the people flying off the expressway as I approached it. Probably just one more accident.

Arriving to work 15 minutes or so after the first plane hit. Hearing ripples through the building by patients, visitors and staff of what was happening. But continuing to work...because healthcare does not stop despite wanting to stop and weep. Despite going through all the motions of comfort and care with that cold cement block in your stomach. Despite hands trembling in fear of the unknown. Despite wanting to just go to your loved ones and just be.

Yes I grieved for the lost and their remaining loved ones.

Now I grieve for us. I am angry for us.

Maybe we have made mistakes in our anger and grief. If we have I really don't regret it. I think as a nation the steps we've taken we really have no regrets.

We are angry and remorseless, and maybe that scares us and the innocent others of world. It should that is a deadly combination.

The times definitely have changed in two years.

Miller Time

"And the Clintons won't shut up. If that marriage were any more about convenience, they'd have to install a Slim-Jim rack and a Slurpee machine at the base of the bed. [Hillary] jumps on every opportunity to take a shot at Bush. They have a blackout in New York, she starts blaming it on Bush. You know, this woman doesn't miss a trick – unless it's the one her old man's with on any given night."
....Dennis Miller.

Homosexuality and Marriage

Once again Dean posted an excellent commentary on gay rights. One thing about Dean he is always thought provoking. In his article he states he believes that the gay right movement has become a conservative movement. I disagree. I believe it is a publicity movement by publicity hounds.

Dean has a list of what he believes has been gays primary issues the movement has been fighting for.

The list:
They want to hold steady jobs.
They want to go to church and join the clergy.
They want to live in nice, respectable communities without being kicked out.
They want to join the military and fight for their country.
They want to join the boy scouts--the freaking Boy Scouts!
They want to settle down, have kids, and raise families.

I have a 29 year old gay sister who I love, admire and respect. Even more so over the past few weeks reading articles and posts about gay rights and marriages. My sister and her partner have been together about four years. They live in a lovely home in a beautiful community in Iowa.

My sister has never told her family, her co-workers, her church, the government or any other organization she works for that she is gay. She does not need the validation. My sister speaks of having children and she will be a wonderful parent.

On the same vein, I've never discussed at my place of employment, to my government or any other organization that I am heterosexual. I do not need their validation. Do any of them really give a damn anyway?

Now if gays want to live a quiet unassuming life...then do it. Publicly flaunting your sexual preferences is not quiet and unassuming. Do not get in my path to tell me you are gay, I don't care. Don't assume what you do behind closed doors is of concern to me. Just go do your thing, and I'll do mine. That's quiet and unassuming.

On AID's: people of all sexual persuasions are dying of AID's. If someone is sexually promiscuous the odds increase, straight or gay. Promiscuity is the problem not the homosexuality.

Also Dean is beginning to believe that the cause of gay marriage is lost. I have to wonder if it's a moot point. In this nation for every two marriages there is one divorce. The institution of marriage has definitely changed from the days of our forefathers.

Our nation compared to what it was is in moral decay. We have a terminal illness that can only be treated palliatively issue by issue.

Big Brother is Nosey aka Patriot Act

I was reading in the Detroit News this morning that the ACLU is filing a federal lawsuit attacking the Patriot Act in Detroit. Check it out. When it comes to the government and what they want, if they want something do we have any rights at all?

Let me share with you my recent experience with the IRS. In May I received a letter from the IRS wanting proof that the dependent I am claiming (my 16yo son) exists I guess in the year 2001.

Thank you Bill and Hillary

I hold Bill and Hillary responsible for this shit.
I thought politics and politicians were at an all time low scum level before Bill and Hillary. They proved me wrong. They opened my eyes that anyone with a silver tongue can obtain any position if they know how to use it.
Jerry Springer belongs in politics, hell he won't even have to bring his traveling freak show with him.
Does anybody else read this shit and feel like the world has slipped a little on its axis or maybe the little slip has occurred in our sanity?
