Your view in this post similar to that of the terrorists who destroyed the WTC. To the terrorists, 'America', as a political entity capable of various acts of force was represented by each innocent which is why killing them was legitimate.

Your view of the Iraqis being tortured is the same. I believe that you should go and fly a plane into some of their buildings and be done with it.

Anytime you pick up a gun and put yourself in the arena of aggression...foul things will happen. Civilian or military, any nation. This isn't TV, a video game or a civilized chess game. It's war. It's the real world. Are you naive enough to believe that this doesn't happen?

Anyone who is shocked at these pictures needs a reality bitchslap or go hide your head and wait for the nice, good and clean war to start.

War is insanityl. after a while it would have to wear on the mind of soldiers of both sides, and pretty soon remorse would dissipate and all that's left is anger. in WWII we found the Jewish prison camps late in the war. Don't you think that if we had found them sooner that the anger would have overpowered any amount of remorse? We would have fought harder and more ferociously. Compassion would have no meaning. If the Iraqies capture some of ours don't you think for a moment that they are doing the same things to them or worse? it's war, you can bet your ass they are. You might ask if I'd do that if I was a soldier there ... that depends on what I had seen there. what I had experienced ... that alone would drive my mind set.

I agree with you Dawn, Fuck Them! These are the same assholes that have been shooting or shooting at our soldiers. I just can't find any sympathy. The only thing we should be ashamed of is the fact the soldiers were stupid enough to take these pictures.

I don't agree with Dawn's jaded perception, "Fuck them," but I understand how she arrived at it (I think).

We've lost a lot of moral high ground with our "antics." It makes us no better than them. And if we're no better than them, then who are we to dictate to them how they should run their country? Exactly what has changed if terrorism, torture and atrocity still exist there -- the faces administering it have just changed?

If ever there was a reason to say this was all for nothing, than this photo (and others like it) is that reason.

The whole time we've been hunting down these terrorists, we've gone on about the innocent lives taken on September 11, 2001. As if any of the lives taken in Iraq now are not innocent. Probably more of them are than you would be comfortable believing.

The people running the war are probably not the people being dragged through the streets on their heels.

I don't see the torture! Humiliation? Yes. Torture? No. Wonder if the victims of 911 would have traded a little humiliation for their lives. Wonder if Danny Pearl would have preferred a pair of women's panties over his head if they would have left it attached to his body. The first thing I that came out of my mouth when I they hit the media was -- what a bunch of fuc$ing idiots. knowing how closely the rest of the world is watching us, and go and do something like that -- then photograph it as the same time.

But what did military leaders expect when they put a untrained soldiers as prison guards?

Do I think the prisoners deserved it... hell no, no more than our men deserve to be humiliated and punished when they become prisoners of war.

Many of those prisoners were rounded up in random sweeps and are probably just ordinary, innocent Iraqis.

Also, even if they are guilty, we should know better than to treat them in that manner. It's disgusting.
