If you are not a stupid city person, please ignore the following tip:
When driving and approaching a steep incline covered with a few inches of snow, it is not wise to stop, look at the hill, then attempt to conquer it. Instead when you see the approaching hill, slowly and safely increase your speed until you reach the incline and maintain that speed until you reach the crest.
Trust me, it won't hurt you one bit.

Is there a corollary there somewhere about people in HUGE SUVs who believe that they don't need to make ANY adjustment for ice and snow?
I drive an SUV, and some jerk wanted to drive up OVER me yesterday during the snowstorm, and I wasn't holding up traffic!
