Pete Rose

"I've consistently heard the statement: 'If Pete Rose came clean, all would be forgiven.' Well, I've done what you've asked. The rest is up to the commissioner and the big umpire in the sky."

So Pete says. So he did what was asked. My vote, let him in the Hall of Fame, he deserves it. Let him manage again.

We kept a President who lied under oath about a blow job. What? Are we going to split hairs now? Nothing is much about integrity or following the rules now is it?

So what do you think?

"He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone ..."

I absolutely disagree. In baseball, you can have many sins - fornication, adultery, wife-beating, alcoholism, and (example Ty Cobb) just being a miserable excuse for a human being.

The one unforgiveable sin is gambling. It started for a good reason (the fixed World Series), and has continued for the reason that otherwise, it will become what football, basketball, and boxing have become - thinly disguised rackets to siphon money from addicted gamblers.

Rose knew the score. He chose to break it. And he didn't even have the guts to be a man and tell the truth about it. Until now. And the only reason he is doing so now is that it's his only option left.
