Slave Reparations
I'm unsure of what to think of this story. I obviously live in a cave and didn't know this was taking place. I do know one thing.... I'd want the 40 acres and the mule. But that's just me. I'm all for reparation. Just don't take it out of my money, none of my family was here before 1900. Take it from those southern rednecks. Comments
HEY! Don't take it out on me! My family came over around 1900. BEsides They weren't slaves and neither was anyone they knew directly. Its just a get rich quick scheme and a "You owe me" attitude. When is enough enough already! Posted by: Doc at October 24, 2003 02:18 PMReparations are stupid. Posted by: Erica at October 25, 2003 02:34 AMI don't know what to about the father and daughter that pulled this off either. Think the government is pretty stupid for paying such a claim. This excerpt says it all. The IRS says more than 80,000 tax returns were filed in 2001 seeking nonexistent slavery tax credits totaling $2.7 billion. More than $30 million was mistakenly paid out in slave reparations in 2000 and part of 2001. The government should audit first before paying such great claims.
