WoooHoooo
Best damn news I heard all day. I guess Jeb must of been a little scared of that bitchslap..ya think? Invoking a law rushed through the Legislature earlier in the day, Gov. Jeb Bush on Tuesday ordered a feeding tube reinserted into a brain-damaged woman at the center of one of the nation's longest and most bitter right-to-die battles. I can't believe that Terri Schiavo would ever choose starving to death as a way to die. Years ago when the government legalized abortion, I was sickened. I was sickened when the judge ordered the feeding tube removed. It's not over, it will eventually happen. Maybe not to Terri, maybe the media will never get a hold of it. But the government will eventually once again sanction murder. It should scare the hell out of all of us when the government begins defining what "life" is and what "quality of life" is. Shit, they can't even get my income tax right. Comments
So is your beef with the method (starving to death)? Or with who gets to make the decision? Posted by: Erica at October 21, 2003 08:04 PMActually, I was sickened that the government could intervene and demand that this woman continue to live as a vegetable. Jeb interefered with her husband's wishes. Her mistake was not drawing up a living will. Made me immediately want to write up a will. I'd never want to live in a vegetative state for years and years. And I want my husband to tell the doctors that. No way do I want the government interfering. It's none of their business. Posted by: dawn at October 22, 2003 02:58 PMAgain it's what you classify as a vegetable. Someone that responds with verbal response, eye movements and smiles appropriately is not comatose or a vegetable. I guess that husband will have to wait to get his hands on that trust fund and life insurance and maybe the court appointed guardian will let some of the money be spent on rehab. I've posted several times for people to think and DO advance directives. That's real nice if hubby can call the shots...lets just hope hubby hasn't a little hot babe stashed away somewhere and doesn't want to be burdened with an invalid and that life insurance policy would be damn nice...wouldn't it? Before you scoff at that..I've seen it happen. I wish I could say it was a rare occurrence. Terri Schiavo's "husband" has another woman, he just needs to bow out and let her loved ones handle her care. Posted by: Dawn at October 22, 2003 08:35 PM
