One More Thing...Michigan Roads

Well it seems I've gotten some serious linkage from this Yahoo Group, Great Lakes Roads from my Michigan Highways and Byways post.

So if somebody knows somebody who is somebody with the Michigan Roads department...let me tell you something.

Last night driving home on I 96 in the pouring rain in the damn dark was a bitch. Why? Let me tell you. It seems DOT or whoever is responsible to paint those little white lines that separate the 4 lanes..ran out of paint. What a thrill! Who the hell needs to go to Cedar Point for excitement when we have I-96. Yes...at some point in the 90's it probably did have paint. I know for a fact the last 3 years it hasn't.

Ahhh..one more question, just because this bugs me. Why is there a "No Right Turn" sign on the bypass over I 96 and Southfield road..heading north? The one lane, one way ramp without exits? The one I'm sitting on top of every morning stuck in traffic where I can see for miles around in any direction. Just a little joke? I think "No Jumping" would be more appropriate.

I bet you thought I was going to post all about the damn potholes didn't you?

But 96 in Livonia sort of undulates up and down. It's kind of rollercoaster like. Sort of. Especially when you pass by Cloverleaf Lanes.

And that 96/Southfield interchange is freaky. And ugly. Boy is it ugly. I never noticed the "No Right Turn" sign, but now I'm thinking I've never had cause to go that particular direction. I think I always go south.

I wish they'd put the reflectors in the lane markers. I like those.

There's a whole Yahoo group dedicated to Great Lakes roads?

There is indeed. I'm as surprised as you are. :)

I'm from South Florida. We have mostly bad drivers, but decent roads.

But try driving on I-15 in Las Vegas. The sun burns the paint off after a couple of years, and they never repave it. The two times I've been there, there's been no line separation. You just have to guess.

Then add the glare of the desert sun.

*urgh*
